I'm in the mood of sharing some insight in the development of D2TM. Currently the interface is being made with placeholder graphics. I have made a set of icons with the size of 100x61 pixels. The graphics are taken from the original dune 2 mentat pictures. So they are quite nice to see. They have been passed to Nahoo for a finishing touch, also a 'hover' graphic will be made for some eye-candy.
Apart from that, i have made loading bars to show you the 'load time' into video memory and loading the 27 regions. Since i am play-testing i use a random map generator. Perhaps i will optimize the random map generator, so the entire world is random. Which will give the game a higher replay value. What do you think about this? As you might know. School starts again. Life starts again. This means i have less time, but its not that i won't work on the project. Instead i am updating the roadmap to version 0.05 which will be available soon. There are some nice discussions going on about the global system. It will take some time to get stuff working again , but i am sure it will come out nicely.
Besides the D2TM project i am planning on something secret. But since there is so little time, don't expect anything yet.
I have updated this website with links. You can check them out at the left, press the button "links" and you'll get there. I hope you like them, if you have some link for me which should definatly be there, send me an e-mail and i will make sure it gets there. Also, there is a new poll. Please answer it. It gives me more insight if the project is 'doomed to fail or succeed' when going into the current direction. ;) |

I have begun morphing the engine into the new desired direction of the project. The roadmap is still heavily under development and the discussion(s) going on are quite interesting. Join the discussion any time, visit the forums!
Basicly i have to convert the engine from a '1 map at real-time' to 'multiple maps' at real-time. This means i have to convert a lot of code.
I have temp graphics for my sidebar and they will be replaced with real gfx later on. A lot of functionality is removed. The new version Corrino will probably not really have much of a gameplay, but have much elements in to test out. Like switching from LOCAL to GLOBAL mode. And so on. Also, the basic principle of spreading your territories should work.
But, before all that will start, i hope i can get the map conversion done. |
