It has been a while, yet a lot of things are changing.
In the past few days i have been upgrading my software and searching for a networking library suitable for me and d2tm. Suitable for me, because i still have to learn network coding, and suitable for d2tm as it should function well as well. A simple 'chat program' is not enough ofcourse!
In programming terms, i have converted all of my structures code into true OOP. Using true classes and derived classes it makes it a hell of a lot easier to code, find bugs, and compile as well.
Ofcourse a lot has been added already as well, you can check out the forums for a very accurate update. I will be working on a skirmish mode first , once that works fine i will be trying out networking. This will probably be first in the process of writing a few test programs , as my goal is ambitious:
- i want a true server where one can login , and join a lobby
- the server should be able to have users with username/login and track down your stats (ladder)
For someone who never coded something in that field, its pretty tough. But i have come this far with just doing it by myself and learning by books, so this should not be impossible either!
Check out the forums often, i ask for help, details, testing (for coming DEMO 4 in-between-builds) and so forth.
If you did not check out demo 3 yet, do it, already 80 downloads and still 5 stars worth! great to hear. Also the game is recieving pretty good reviews at www.allegro.cc , which gives me a lot of satisfaciton. But i am not done yet, there are good things to come!
